Introduced in two varieties, the Rally Sport Version, and the Super Sport version, Chevrolet Camaro sports a leaner look. Unlike its earlier version Nova or Corvair in the sports category, Camaro had the engine configured in the front part with conventional rear drive, similar to the one introduced by Ford as Mustang in 1964. The unique feature of the Camaro includes, among others, a separate rail sub frame made of steel, in front portion. The independent front suspension in the vehicle is made up of Double A-arms, while the rear axle in the vehicle is suspended by leaf springs, which are of semi-elliptical shape. The instrument panel in front of the driver in the Camaro was also very unique. The padding in the panel did not fold over, especially in the corners, and had a flat look. Only the first version of this vehicle in 1967 had the flat panel with padding not folding over in the corners. The subsequent versions indeed had the padding folding over in the corner.
Each of the two variants introduced for Camaro, the RS version and the SS version, had different interiors. The deluxe interior trim and hidden headlights were the hallmarks of the RS version, while the SS version had in it a distinct interior decoration that included a doomed hood and iconic SS badges in the front and rear, apart from the bumble bee stripes, which encircled the SS badges and the nose of the vehicle. In addition to either of the two variants, provision has been made for a combo edition of both RS and SS variants, such as RS/SS model, which includes the better of the two models, especially for the interiors of the vehicle.
The basic version of the The classic muscle car called Camaro, excluding the various features that come as add-ons, weighed approximately 2,900 tons and the sleek sporty look of the vehicle was well received in the market and proved a good competitor to the Ford Mustang. The initial version of Camaro had side vent windows, which were modified in further developments of the vehicle. The headlights for the Camaro were provided with door covers and these covers were operated electrically in the initial version. The other notable features of Chevrolet Camaro include power steering, dual exhaust, heavy-duty battery, AM-FM radio, folding rear seat, air conditioning facilities, power glide, folding rear seats and front disc brakes.
